I thought that it would be interesting from time to time to show from un-biased sources descriptions of what an event production company or event producer does and why having one is important to the success of a meeting or event.

From the Gathering Guide (http://www.gatheringguide.com/event_categories/event_production.html):

If you
are throwing a large party, wedding, or corporate event, hiring an event
production company will ensure that your event is a success!

Event Production companies and Event Producers are
specialized to produce corporate and sales meetings, corporate concerts,
business meetings, franchisee meetings, and other corporate events that include
product launches, brand building events, grand opening events and parties,
theme parties, training programs and conferences, event marketing programs,
awards / recognition events, incentive programs and corporate galas, trade show
presentations and more.

Event Producers are trained to handle and integrate the
creative as well as technical production elements of your large event.

When choosing an Event Production Company and Event
Producer for your large wedding, party or company event, look for one that is
knowledgeable and experienced at producing your desired event. Ask them lots
questions and look at portfolios from their past projects. When planning with
your Event Producer, put yourself in the audience's shoes: will the event be
impressive, exciting and inspiring? If the answer is "yes", then
you’re on your way to having a successful event!

Excellent write-up about this topic, I was impressed because your way of writing is different and as far as I been looking for these days.
Thank you for sharing tips on how to hire an efficient event producer. Checking the portfolio would be the first thing to do. Does this type of business requires a huge budget?

How true. I think because we make it look easy many people think all they need to do is make one call and show up.

I am always surprised by the planners who try to do it themselves. It’s always more stressful and more expensive for them.

One of those “knowledgeable and experienced” producers you’re talking about is PM Productions. They do corporate events in Chicago, Miami, and Orlando. Take a look at the client list, you’ll be impressed!

Thank you for your comment! I do appreciate it. I find that many planners don’t truly understand what an event production really does and why there are times that we’re very useful to them!

Great post! I felt like you did a great job of giving a general explanation of what event production companies do. Far too often people will give so much information on what they think something is that they will confuse the reader. What you wrote was short to the point and very informative.
