The article in today's NY TImes,

is another zing at the meetings and events industry.
When the press mentions that a corporate meeting  is a "junket", you know that this attracts attention. But, nowhere does the article or any of the recent articles state that for instance, were the 14 days in Vegas all for the same people? Probably not. They blocked the rooms for several groups in and out to receive a little bit as special recognition for those folks who did make money for the company, only to be squandered by a few decision makers who made bad decisions!
Do the articles ever mention the affect on the local economy when those events are cancelled? The trickle down affect is no longer a trickle, it's become a flood!
